Christian Hip-Hop artist Lecrea released a new album titled “Anomaly” earlier this year and has been breaking billboard records since it’s debut. Lecrea’s album has peaked and preservered at number one on both the mainstream and gospel billboards. In the 13th song, “Good, Bad, Ugly”, Lecrea raps about an experience he had as a young man, when he and his partner discover they are expecting.
Lecrea describes the type of young man he was and his mentality at the time. He goes on to rap his story and tell of the ups and downs that lead to him and the young woman to aborting their child. In these very open lyrics Lecrea shares his experience with regret and sadness and brings to light the life that was cut short.
We admire the honesty and humility Lecrea shows in exposing his personal failures and regrets. In a rare choice he uses this song as a platform to expose his sorrow over the life lost and over what the two parents who lost part of themselves that day.
The girl was so fine
Heard a heart beat that wasn’t hers or mine
The miracle of life had started inside
Ignored the warning signs
Suppressed that truth I felt inside
I was just having fun with this, I’m too young for this
I’m thinking me, myself, and I
Should I sacrifice this life to keep my vanity and live nice?
And she love and trust me so much that whatever I say, she’d probably oblige
But I was too selfish with my time
Scared my dreams were not gonna survive
So I dropped her off at that clinic
That day, a part of us died
